Rockstar’s Rob MacCachren DOUBLES UP at Lucas Oil Off Road in Las Vegas with WINS in Rounds 5 & 6

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Mother Nature clashed down on the Southern Nevada desert Sunday as cool temperatures, high wind gusts and threatening rain forced racers to consider changing up setups at the last minute for Round 6 of the 2010 Lucas Oil Off Road Series at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  An unseasonably weather front locked in on the Las Vegas Metropolitan area and threatened to change the track from blue groove to a mud pit, but just as fast as the rain began to fall it stopped.

Rockstar Energy Racing’s Rob MacCachren took to the track during the Sunday morning qualifying session and qualified in the second position behind 4 Wheel Parts sponsored – Greg Adler.

The #21 Rockstar/BFGoodrich/Mastercraft Pro 2 churned up the dirt in the corners of the 1.1-mile undulating racecourse and MacCachren and his Rockstar Energy backed crew did not have to make a single adjustment from Saturday’s round 5 where he was victorious.

With the Lucas Oil Pro 2 inversion, MacCachren started Sunday’s race on the outside of third row side-by-side with Adler.  As the entire field of racers immediately began to charge forward, MacCachren had already moved into the third spot.

Setting his sights on the two trucks in front of him it was only the third lap of the race before he made the pass to the front.  MacCachren pushed the envelope of the #21 Rockstar/BFGoodrich/Mastercraft Pro 2 and pulled away from the entire field.

MacCachren put his Rockstar/BFGoodrich/Mastercraft Pro 2 through the turns like no one else.  With his ability to turn his truck on a dime, MacCachren raced alone out in front of the entire field.

MacCachren commented, “We waited until the last minute we could before we decided what tire and groove to put on our BFGoodrich Tires.  With the weather and track changing every thirty minutes it was really important to get everything just right before we headed into the dirt for round 6.  Our BFGoodrich Tires performed outstanding once again today and I couldn’t ask for anything more.  They really provided incredible forward traction and of course they continue to be the workhorse in the dirt for us.”

Dominating in the elite Unlimited Pro 2 class in both rounds 5 and 6, MacCachren continues his march towards his 2010 goal of earning another Pro 2 season championship.  Rob earned season championships in two different series in 2008, 2009 and continues striding towards the points championship in 2010.

Rob explained, “We love to win, but our ultimate goal is to win the season championship.  There is a lot of hard work that goes into a season championship and the Rockstar Energy Racing crew continues to work and perform at championship levels.  Another important aspect of our team is the continued support from our sponsors.  We could not be racing at this level without the partnerships we have in place with our sponsors.   Rockstar Energy Drink, BFGoodrich Tires and Mastercraft Safety continue to be the great sponsors with our team.”

With 2010 Lucas Oil Off Road Series Rounds 5 & 6 in the books, Rob MacCachren continues to lead the Unlimited Pro 2 division in the race for the season point’s championship.

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Rob MacCachren and his Pro-2 ROCKSTAR Energy Racing Team pulled out all the stops this past weekend at SPEEDWORLD Raceway in the Phoenix, Arizona area, as the Las Vegas off road racing champion raced to victory on Sunday and finished third in Saturday’s Round 3.

More than 10,000 fans jammed into the SPEEDWORLD Raceway over the two-day race festival where temperatures soared into the high 90’s for the first time this year. The Lucas Oil Series delivered a sensational racetrack that led to some of the best racing so far this season. The Pro 2 Unlimited race had everyone in the stands on their feet for the battle between the warriors of off road racing.

Since the beginning of the year, MacCachren’s #21 Pro 2 team has worked diligently at making more speed and it seems to have paid off. It wasn’t without tremendous work that MacCachren churned out the fastest practice, qualifying and race lap times all weekend long.

Over the Easter Sunday weekend, while MacCachren’s competition searched for Easter eggs, MacCachren led his dedicated race team in a two-day test session at SPEEDWORLD Raceway. But the Rockstar Energy Racing Team was not looking for Easter Eggs, they were searching for more speed. The SPEEDWORLD Raceway provided the open test session and that proved to pay off handsomely for the only team that attended.

With the crowd standing on their feet, the #21 Ford truck had the bullseye target on it from the beginning, as the wily off road racer set the fastest Pro 2 time for Sunday’s main event. With the six-truck inversion, MacCachren was forced to start from the outside of the third row, but as the green flag dropped, MacCachren went to work on an impressive field of 22 Pro 2 Unlimited trucks.

The 1.1-mile undulating racecourse has very few passing zones and it was up to MacCachren to charge his way determinedly through the traffic. By the end of the 16th lap, MacCachren still had all his Pro 2 body in perfect condition, minus a few hundred pounds of SPEEDWORLD mud. As the crowd screamed and yelled in celebration, the #21 ROCKSTAR / BFGoodrich Tires Ford F150 burned victory donuts in front of thousands of Arizona fans, celebrating MacCachren’s first short-course victory of the season.

“We had a great truck today and the setup was just about perfect. We churned out some fast lap times on our BFGoodrich Tires today and once again, BFGoodrich delivered us to the winner’s circle. My team has worked very hard since the Las Vegas season opener and we are continually making improvements. It’s a great victory and we can’t wait to get back to Las Vegas under the lights in late May,” said MacCachren.

Since the beginning of the season, MacCachren has been on the podium each and every race and that consistency has earned him the early advantage in the race for the 2010 Lucas Oil Series Point’s Championship. With two second place finishes at the season opener in Las Vegas and his third place showing in Saturday’s Round 3, coupled with his first victory of the year in Round 4, Rob MacCachren takes an early point’s lead in the race for the championship.

Rockstar Energy Racing returns to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for Rounds 5 and 6 of the 2010 Lucas Oil Off Road Series on May 22-23 under the lights in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Matt Loiodice Overcomes Adversity to Prevail At LOORS Season Opener in Las Vegas

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Following his 7th place finish in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORS) Unlimited Lite class in 2009, Matt Loiodice had high hopes coming in to the 2010 season opener. Unfortunately, Lady Luck was not kind to Loiodice in Round One in Las Vegas and his Jimco-built truck ended up on its side in the whoops. “With fourteen Unlimited Lite trucks on the course there is a lot of traffic, and once I got out of shape there was nowhere to go.” Loiodice commented between rounds. Thanks to his MasterCraft Safety 3G suspension seat and five-point restraints, Loiodice was able to walk away from the incident unharmed. Loiodice managed to earn a sixth-place finish that secured valuable points towards the season championship. Still, the stanch competitor was not satisfied with the results and vowed to do better in Round Two on Sunday.

Despite slick track conditions on Sunday, Loiodice was right back in the fray mixing it up with Rodrigo Ampudia, Chris Brandt, and Brian Deegan. His sturdy Jimco chassis withstood Saturday’s incident with minimal damage, allowing the aggressive young driver to push to the front of the pack in Round Two. Loiodice’s superior equipment and never-say-die attitude gave him the victory that had previously eluded him in the highly competitive Unlimited Lite class. “If I wasn’t in a Jimco chassis my truck likely wouldn’t have survived the accident on Saturday,” Loiodice reflected after his victory. “And if it wasn’t for my MasterCraft 3G seat I wouldn’t have fared nearly as well either.” Matt Loiodice intends to prove that his victory was no fluke at the next stop on the 2010 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing series held April 17-18, 2010 at Speedworld Off Road Park in Surprise, AZ.
